The Peekshners Meet Anderson Cooper!

Photobucket
You never know who you might see while strolling along the Mississippi. When Becky and I spotted CNN's Anderson Cooper there, we urged the kids to go over and introduce themselves and thank him for bringing so much attention to New Orleans. He is the nicest guy. Shook all their hands and made cute chitchat with them. Since he was so nice and gracious I had enough nerve to ask if he didn't mind me snapping a pic of him with the Peekshners. He was kind enough to ask if I'd like to be in the photo also and had one of his guys use my camera to snap it. So cool!

Down in New Orleans!

Well here we are in New Orleans! Home sweet home. Sweltering heat and humidity never felt better! How I've missed the accents, the "y'alls," the warm smiles from every single person I meet. There really is nothing like going home after a year away.

But I sure do miss my honey already! And I know he's missing his cajun cuties and me, too. Especially as we're spending this first week here with his parents and staying in New Orleans with his sister and her family. So sweet Aunt Becky has gotten me all set up to blog a bit in order to share some of the fun.

As we drove up to the house, we could hear the screaming of the cousins! All the kids scrambled out of the car or down the stairs of the house to hug, hug, hug and scream, scream, scream! I think we may have even made a lady passing by shed a few tears over just! how! cute!! it was to witness these cousins so incredibly happy to see one another.

These are just some random scenes from our first 24 hours of the Peekshner reunion.

Today there was lots of swimming going on most of the day. Then later my parents drove out to see us because there was no way they could wait another hour to see their babies who were now only 50 miles away rather than a thousand!

Whew, that's a lot! Wanted my love to almost feel as though he's here. Hope this helped, honey, rather than making you miss us more. I'm sure Uncle Simon would encourage you to relish that peace and silence you're experiencing because it sure ain't peaceful and silent here! :)

Friendly Shreveport Firefighters

There is no explaining how excited we were to finally make it to Shreveport after driving alllll day long. And in case we needed more excitement, when we stopped to fill up for gas, a fire engine stopped in right after us. The fireman saw the kids happily checking it out and invited in for a little peek. So sweet. Such a friendly welcome to the state we love so much.

Going Down the Bayou!

There will be a lull here for awhile as the 4 cajun cuties and I head south to spend some time with our family and friends down the bayou. Unfortunately Aaron doesn't get the summer off, so he'll be plugging away here in KC, and we'll be missing him a lot. Rest assured there will be a flood of photos to follow upon our return! :)
