Homemade Bubbles
Yesterday the kids presented me with a recipe they found for making bubble-blowing solution with household staples like dish soap, corn starch, baking powder and water. After cutting the recipe by half, we still wound up with 2 quarts of bubble solution which produced way cool and BIG bubbles!

Friday Night Flick
I took all my kiddos and our friend Ali to see a free outdoor showing of ET last week at a little neighborhood shopping center. I love stuff like this! We got some snacks and some water, brought along a couple chairs and some blankets and set out for the movie. I am posting a few pictures from that night mainly to let Olivia (Livi, I hope you're out there reading!) see the cute picture I took of Maren while they were chatting away on the phone before the show.
Curran was looking a little tired before it started. Can't blame him, it didn't start until just before dark at 9:00!

Working on Her New Move
After a long visit to the library, a picnic lunch and playtime at a playground, and two hours at the pool, Alaire was still not ready to call it a day. So Mommy set the slip and slide up in the backyard. The big girls went in to get cleaned up and warmed up from the pool. Curran played a little while outside slipping and sliding before stripping down nudical-style (hence no pics posted of him), but Alaire kept at it, teeth chattering, and smiling away until I persuaded her to come in for a bath and some dinner. She said she was working on her "skateboard move." I love the moves, and I LOVE the expressions! Happy kid!

I think she needs a tumbling class! :)

Curran's a Good Sport
One night I found all the girls in my room caring for this little "accident victim" patient they'd named Bob and Bob's baby. Looks like Bob and his baby received matching head injuries in the imaginary accident.

Warning--Bad Photos
But you have to understand how surprising and exciting it was for 4 cajun cuties and 1 cajun mommy to see hot air balloons flying through the sky as we're driving down the road. Definitely not something we've ever seen before! So I turned into the first place I could find (some random dirt road on someone's farm!) and let all the kids pile out of the van to take a few minutes to appreciate how cool of a sight it was. Maren's camera was in the car, so I tried to get a pic or two. The balloons (we could see 3) look so far away in the pictures, but darn it, I'm posting them anyway. :)

this is a tiny section of that first picture cropped out to enlarge what they're looking at!

Family Fun
Saturday we went downtown to the Power and Light District for something I saw advertised as a free family fun day. That's some clever marketing for what turned out to be a whole lot of people all waiting in outrageously long lines to do mostly simple things such as making your own bubble blowing kit with solution, paper cups, and straws. :) So of course, our smart kids chose the most complicated activity there was there to participate in(wax hand molds) since it was not something we could replicate at home. We had no idea the line would take nearly 3 hours to get through. Luckily, there was a very bubbly cast from Radio Disney entertaining the crowd with music, dancing, and games. So all in all, we did have some nice family fun.
Aaron got himself and Ramsey volunteered to participate in a game similar to the Newlywed Game, but set up for parents and kids. Pretty cute! And they did really well! Made it past the bonus round, to the Bonus Bonus Round! He knew a lot of stuff about his little girl! To Ramsey's shock and horror, when they pulled the parents off the stage to answer the questions, the kids were left on stage to dance the Cha Cha Slide!!!! She knows the dance and looked adorable up there doing it. Imagine how insanely hilarious it had been if Ramsey had been pulled off the stage, and AARON had been left up there to line dance! heeheehee...
