Alaire and Maren had class Valentine's Day parties on Friday which I was lucky enough to attend! Fun stuff--reminds me so much of when I was in elementary school myself.
A week ago our baby girl Maren Emilee became a ten-year-old, and I still can hardly believe it! It has taken me awhile to gather my thoughts and my photos to put together a little special birthday post for my sweetheart, and I apologize for the delay.
On the big night we went out for pizza. Pepperoni for the birthday girl!
A yummy birthday dessert
which she graciously shared!
Then we came back home for cake and presents! And wowie, did she have a lot of presents! Thank you to all our amazing family and friends!!
Maren is so wonderfully sweet and lovable. She is the best snuggler--always one to hold onto a hug for as long as possible. She is so smart and creative and intense in all that she does. She's somewhat quiet and never at a loss for something to do, whether in a room full of people or completely alone...and she always has been this way. She's wise beyond her years, and she seems to see the world around her in a different way than most. She's sensitive. She's funny. She loves to be helpful. She's clever. And she's so completely beautiful inside and out. We love her, we're so proud of her, and we're so thankful for all the millions of ways she adds joy to our family.
Ten years ago we welcomed our year 2000 baby--a beautiful baby girl with huge chocolate eyes and dark brown hair with the cutest button nose and beautiful full lips. I look at our little Mamie, now 10 years old, and I still see that little baby face just as it looked then...
To help out a mom friend who wasn't feeling well Friday, I brought Alaire's friend Leah home from school to spend the afternoon with us. It was a cold, snowy day. They had a lot of fun inside, and when the snow stopped, it seems all the neighborhood kids went outdoors to burn some energy, so we joined the fun.
Here's a little clip of Alaire and Leah doing a little song they learned in music class at school!
