All Packed Up

Here's a shot of Cook and Pop waving goodbye shortly before we rolled out of Houma last week.

Pop drove off in the Big Banana (as the kids affectionately call it) as soon as it was all packed up. The next day Cook, the 4 Cajun Cuties, and myself hit the road for our 14+ hour drive...

Happy Early Birthday to Alaire!!

**Still doing a little catching up on my blog of stuff that happened before we moved.
In order to have one final family get-together and to let my little girl know how very special she is to all her family, we held a big, fun early 5th birthday party for Alaire just five days before the giant moving truck was to be loaded up! Technically this party was three weeks before her actual birthday, and from the moment she heard the idea (just a few days prior to the big event) she would ask every morning and after every nap, "Is today my fake birthday yet?!" We had a pretty, sunny day and an amazing turnout, and I think we all loved every minute of it!

Although I think it was 101 degrees out that afternoon, the kids did play outside! Tough little cajun babies! :)

Alaire with her godparents--my lifelong girlfriend Mindi and my brother-in-law Darren. It is a super rare occasion when all three of these people are in the same place at the same time since we all move around a bit. I don't think it's happened since Alaire's baptism when she was 12 days old. But boy does she love these two people!!

When I bought a package of 250 water balloons for Alaire's (early) birthday party, I thought maybe I was overdoing it. Ha!! The kids and their cousins blew right through those balloons and wished there were more, more, more!!

Lemonade Stand

I want to start off by letting everyone know that my happy little family is all back together again! We made it to Kansas City on Father's Day and had such a joyful reunion with our Daddy! We're still up to our eyeballs in setting up house, so I have no new pics to post since the move yet. Those will come soon, I promise!

In an effort to make up for that, I would like to share these fun and darling pics Aunt Bec sent me from the most recent Peekshner Get-Together. The Peekshners and their Peekshner Parents were gracious enough to have Ramsey and Maren over for half of that last week before our move, and they did all sorts of really cool things!

I am so proud to boast that these 4 cousins, Jack, Ana, Ramsey, and Maren (with the help of awesome Aunt Bec, of course) set up a lemonade stand in front of their beautiful home in uptown New Orleans and sold homemade cookies and organic lemonade. In about 2 hours, the kids raised $86 and donated their earnings to the Lake Ponchartrain Basin Foundation. These kids have proven, I think, that you can never be too young or too old, too little or too big, to do a little something to save our coast!!

A special thank you to all the caring patrons out there who love Louisiana as much as we do and couldn't resist stopping in to get refreshments from our little cuties and helping their cause.

Happy Birthday, Little Brother. :)

We're Moving Again!

Several months ago we decided we're moving again. In fact, you may have picked up on my subtle mentionings of Aaron not being here. He's been gone since May 1. The kids and I stayed behind to finish up our school year, spend a good month of summer vacation here with family, and get the house all packed up and sold. But this is the week! This is the big week of our move. I am torn between the happiness and excitement of being reunited with Aaron in a great new place and starting the next adventure of our life's journey... and the heartache and sadness of leaving our amazing families, our dear friends, and our beloved bayou country behind for a few years.

So, our next stop is...

We hope you sit back and enjoy the ride along with us!
